Midget Girls
Our Midget Girls left their memorable mark on yet another USATF Junior Olympic track meet. This year in Greensboro, North Carolina, the midget girls won gold in the 4x100 and the 4x400 meter relays. Over the last 3 Junior Olympic meets the girls have earned 63 medals and have won gold in the 4x400 meter relay all 3 years.

Participating at the USATF Junior Olympic in the Intermediate Boys division, Derreck Edwards won gold in the Triple Jump with a distance of 14.42 meters.

The Young Men's division won gold in the 4x400 meter relay at the USATF Junior Olympic with a time of 3:12.82 making it a repeat year of gold.

National Team Champions
Midget Boys
At the USATF Youth Outdoor meet in Ypsilanti Michigan, the Midget Boys won 1st place in the 4×100m relay, 1st and 2nd in the 4×400m relay, and 1st and 2nd in the 4×800m relay. The midget boys also earned many individual medals but their collective effort earned them the National Team Championship with 92 points and 32 medals. They earned the must points of any age group team participating in the meet this year, and have one of the highest scores of any midget boys team in history. The 2009 Track Houston midget boys team is only second to the 2001 Track Houston midget boys team who scored 113 points.

Youth Boys
The Youth Boys scored 65 points to capture the National Team Championship at the 2009 USATF Youth Outdoor meet. The youth boys have won the team championship for their last 3 appearances and winning gold in the 4x400 meter relay this year concluded a very successful meet for this age division.

Intermediate Girls
This was not Coach Valerie's first time attending the annual Youth Outdoor meet but it was his first time leading the Intermediate Girls to win the National Team Championship. Coach Valerie was given special honors for his extensive coaching career by personally presenting the gold medals to his first place intermediate girls at the 4x100m awards ceremony. Gold was also won by the girls in the 4x400 meter relay.
